Study Description:
The purpose of this study is to see how effective and well tolerated topical products when used over the course of 4 weeks, and to assess the efficacy of the products to repair the skin barrier over the course of 24 hours on the legs and volar forearms of healthy women. Compensation: Up to $550
Study Requirements:
- Must have mild to moderate dryness on both lateral legs.
- Some must have sensitive skin.
- Must be willing to undergo tape stripping procedures on 4 locations total (1 on each inner forearm, and 1 on each lower leg.)
- Must be willing to remain in clinic at visit 2 (baseline) until completion of hour 4 procedures.
- Must be willing to avoid moisturizing products (eg, lotion, moisturizing body wash, etc) on the arms and legs for the duration of the study.
- Must be willing to not shave the arms and legs within 24 hours before each study visit.
- Must be willing to avoid depilatory (shaving) products on the arms and legs for at least 24 hours before visit 2 and for the duration of the study.
- Cannot have been diagnosed with known allergies to skin care products.
- Cannot have a known reactivity to oat kernel.
- Cannot have sensitivity to tape or having thin skin that would be damaged by repeated tape removal.
- Cannot have had any peel procedures or having used any peel products on the arms and/or legs within 4 weeks before study enrollment.
- Cannot have any significant medical conditions that are not controlled by diet or medication. If you are taking more than 5 medications, you may not be able to participate.
- Cannot currently be participating in another study at SGS (except for C24-D126), another research facility or doctor’s office.
- Cannot have participated on a study (except for C24-D126) involving the arms and/or legs at SGS, another research facility or doctor’s office within the past 2
Visit 1 Instructions
- Avoid application of any topical moisturizing products to the arms and legs for at least 5 days prior to visit 1.
- Avoid extended periods of sun exposure and all use of tanning beds and sunless tanning products for the duration of the study. Extra care should be taken to wear protective clothing, sunscreen if needed (between visits 3 and 5 only), and accessories (such as sunglasses, hat, parasol) and avoid sun exposure from 10 AM to 3 PM.
- Do not use any depilatory products on the arms or legs within 24 hours of visit 2 and continue to avoid for the duration of the study.
- Refrain from any activities that will increase body temperature or induce sweating, such as drinking hot and/or caffeinated beverages, smoking, eating hot/spicy food, exercising, sun exposure, etc, at least 1 hour before each study visit.
- Please dress to allow easy access to forearms and legs for assessments at the clinic (eg, loose-fitting clothing, shorts or skirts, no tights, short sleeves, etc).
- Bring your valid ID or passport.
