Study Description:
The purpose of this study is to assess and compare the effects of two different skin creams when used over the course of 6 weeks.
Study Requirements:
- Must have at least 1 active atopic dermatitis lesion on the arms, legs or torso (cannot be on the hands, feet, face or neck).
- Must be willing to stop using any medication or skin moisturizing treatments for atopic dermatitis other than the test product during the study.
- Must be willing to not shave the area (on the arms, legs or torso) with atopic dermatitis within 3 days of each study visit and be willing to have body hair on the test area trimmed with scissors by the clinic, if needed.
- Cannot have any allergies to Super Glue, glue or adhesives.
- Cannot be using any prescription medications or skin moisturizing products to treat eczema/atopic dermatitis 2 weeks before you start the study.
- Cannot be using any over-the-counter medications to treat eczema 3 days before you start the study.
- Cannot have used prescription medication to treat eczema/atopic dermatitis within 2 weeks before you start the study.
- If you have significant medical conditions or take too many medications, you may not be able to participate.
- Cannot currently be participating in another study at SGS, another research facility or doctor’s office.
- Cannot have participated on a study involving the arms, legs or torso at SGS, another research facility or doctor’s office within the past 2 weeks.
Visit 1 Instructions
- Do not use topical eczema/atopic dermatitis treatment products or prescription medication to treat eczema/atopic dermatitis (including but not limited to betamethasone, clobetasol, desoximetasone, diflorasone, fluocinonide, fluticasone, halcinonide, halobetasol, mometasone, and triamcinolone) on the arms, legs, or torso for at least 14 days prior to your first visit.
- Do not use any over-the-counter medication to treat eczema 3 days prior to your first visit.
- Do not use topical hydrocortisone for at least 1 week prior to your first visit.
- You may use your regular moisturizer product, if needed, except avoid moisturizer use for at least 12 hours prior to your first visit.
- Arrive at clinic with clean arms, legs, and torso, having washed within the past 24 hours and without any bandage or wrapping to cover active eczema lesions.
- Arrive at clinic with clean body, arms, legs, hands and/or feet (target area with a history of eczema), having washed within 24 hours prior to your first visit. Do not apply any topical products to the arms, legs, and torso after washing
- Avoid shaving the test area (on the arms, legs, or torso) within 3 days prior to visit 1.
- Please dress to allow easy access for assessments on the arms, legs, and torso at the clinic (eg, loose-fitting clothing, shorts or skirts, short sleeves or sleeveless tops, no tights or turtleneck shirts, no rompers or jumpsuits, etc).
- Please bring a valid ID or passport.
- If you are bringing a child, bring proof of guardianship (eg, birth certificate, adoption certificate; insurance card is acceptable only if both parent/legal guardian and child’s name are present on the card)
- Your first visit could take up to 3-3.5 hours.
