Elizabeth Cosmetic Testing Location – Study Types
Most Common Types of Tests
Patch Studies
Cosmetic, household and personal care products are tested to determine how they affect your skin. Adhesive patches, similar to a bandage, are applied to your back. These patches are worn for approximately 24 hours at a time. Most patch studies are performed Monday-Friday and require short visits to our SGS office.
Sunscreen products are tested to determine how well the products protect skin from simulated sunlight and determine the SPF and UVA protection factors.
At-Home Product Use Studies
Cosmetic, household and personal care products are used at home to determine how a product performs. You will use a product at home per the provided instructions for a specific period of time and complete a diary and questionnaire. You will be asked to visit the laboratory at specific dates / times. All products and diaries are returned at your final laboratory visit.
Selective Studies
Do you wear contact lenses? Do you have sensitive skin? Please let us know. Some studies may require us to use a percentage of people who wear contact lenses and / or have sensitive skin. Please be sure to provide that information when you first visit SGS.
